A Ministry of Finance notification dated June 26, 2024, superseded previous notifications under the Securities Contracts (Regulation) Act, 1956. The Central Government, in consultation with the Securities and Exchange Board of India, specified goods including cereals, oilseeds, spices, metals, precious metals, gems, forestry products, fibers, energy sources, chemicals, construction materials, sweeteners, plantation goods, dairy and poultry products, dry fruits, services, and miscellaneous items for regulation. The notification impacts various sectors and provides clarity on the goods falling under the Act.
