Sir/Madam, I am directed to state that it has been noticed that proposals for grant of extension of deputation period of officers in Special Economic Zones are sent to this Department for approval in a routine manner without indicating adequate justification and also whether the extension of deputation period is in public interest. Further, the proposals are also sent very late allowing this Department very little time for processing the proposal. In some cases, extension of deputation has been sought even after the expiry of approved tenure of deputation. The approvals in many cases are to be granted by Commerce Secretary or CI M. All Development Commissioners are requested that proposals for grant of extension of deputation period of officials/officers in Special Economic Zones should be sent to this office at least six months prior to the date of expiry of deputation period of officials/officers, complete in all respect as per the prescribed proforma (copy enclosed) along with adequate justification for seeking such extension Yours Faithfully, (Sanjeet Singh) Director Proforma seeking extension of deputation of officials/officers in SEZ 1 Name of post 2 No. of sanctioned post 3 No-of posts filled (Regular basis /Deputation basis) 4 Name of officer whose deputation period is proposed to be extended 5 Date of initial appointment of the officer on deputation basis 6 Date of completion of initial deputation period 7 Whether willingness of the officer is obtained for extension of deputation 8 NOC from parent office (Please enclose a copy) 9 Period up to which extension is sought 10 Whether extension of deputation is in public interest 11 Recommendation of Development Commissioner Signature of Head of Office
