TRADE NOTICE NO. 79 / 2005 Dated: 19.10.2005 Sub:- CE -Visit to SSI Units - Showing of authorization letter and to make entries in the visitors registers of the assessee - Regarding. - - - - - - - It has been brought to the notice of this office by the Directorate General of Vigilance, Customs Central Excise, New Delhi that in one case, the Central Excise officers had visited the premises of SSI unit without showing any authorization / permission from the proper authority and without making any entry in the visitor's register. 2. All the field staff and officers of this Commissionerate have been strictly instructed to show the authorization letter issued by the proper authority, i.e. AC/DC and should invariably make entries in the Visitor's Register available at the factory premises, whenever they visit SSI units. Attention is also invited to this office Trade Notice No. 9/93 dated 27.01.93 wherein similar clarifications were issued to the Trade in this regard. 3. It is once again clarified by the Board that no factory in the small scale sector will be visited by Central Excise Inspectors except with the specific permission of Assistant collector and for a specific purpose. These instructions will also be applicable to Preventive and Internal Audit parties. It is also reiterated that, these officers are required, on their visit to the premises of assessees to enter the relevant particulars in the Visitor's book being maintained by them. 3. The above may be brought to the notice of the constituent members of your Trade Associations.
