Certification Inspection of exports of fresh fruits and vegetables to EU PUBLIC NOTICE NO. 28(RE-2002)/2002-2007 Dated 02/08/2002 Whereas the European Commission (EC) has instructed its member countries to introduce checking operations with regard to import of fresh fruits and vegetables at their respective points of entry and, whereas the European Commission shall allow in the normal course the entry of such commodities if the checks have been carried out in the exporting country and, all relevant information is provided to them in this regard, and whereas APEDA has moved the Commission to facilitate putting in place a system of pre-export inspection and certification in India, so that Indian exports on arrival at destination are not denied entry. 2. Therefore to facilitate exports, in exercise of the powers conferred under para 2.4 of the Export and Import Policy , 2002-2007 , the Director General of Foreign Trade hereby lays down , that all the fresh fruits and vegetables exported to European Union may be inspected and certified by the Directorate of Marketing and Inspection , Department of Agriculture Cooperation , Ministry of Agriculture . The Inspection and certification is voluntary in nature. ( N.L.
