Mentioning of Correct Codes for Service tax payment in GAR-7 Challans TRADE NOTICE NO. 6/2008-ST DATED 29-7-2008 ISSUED BY COMMISSIONER OF CENTRAL EXCISE, CUSTOMS AND SERVICE TAX, VADODARA-II It is noticed that while making payment of Service Tax/Interest/Penalty, some of the assessee/Service Tax payers are not writing their correct 15 digit Service Tax Payer Code (STP Code) in the GAR 7 challans and in the absence of correct STP Code, the Service Tax paid is not accounted for in the assessee's name. Similarly some of the assessee are not writing correct Service Tax Code in the challans while paying Service Tax and as a result the amount is not accounted for under the particular service. Hence all the Service Tax assessees are requested to write correct STP Code as well as Service Tax Code (STC) in the GAR 7 challans while making payment of Service Tax. To facilitate the Trade, directory of all the Service Tax assessee giving STP Codes and directory of all the Service Tax Code has been put on the Commissionerate website www.excisevadodara2.nic.in. All Trade Associations and Chambers of Commerce and Members of Regional Advisory Committee are requested to publicize the contents of this Trade Notice among their members/constituents.
