It has come to the notice of the Additional DGFT, Mumbai office that e-mails were sent to an exporter from the address [email protected] and the same was purported to be sent by a Foreign Trade Development Officer from the Mumbai office. The said e-mails have asked the exporter to furnish certain information/documents including scanned copies of the shipping bills. In fact, repeated e-mails were sent to the exporter from the said e-mail id by the same Foreign Trade Development Officer even threatening him of penal action if the information/documents are not furnished. It is herewith informed that the Government of India offices are allowed to communicate only through the NIC e-mail. Therefore, any e-mail which goes to the exporters which is not from the NIC e-mail is not a valid official e-mail. You are also informed that furnishing information/documents to any unscrupulous element(s) like the one stated above may lead to misuse of the same and this may also result in problems to the exporter whose information is misused. The Trade is therefore informed not to entertain any e-mails which have not originated from an NIC e-mail account which are therefore not marked for instance as @nic.in . In case of any doubt about the origin of any e-mail, the Trade is requested to kindly check by writing back, to a known mail address of an officer as given on the website http://dgft.gov.in/dgftmumbai This Trade Notice issued in public interest.
