Furnishing of "State of Origin" Code in the shipping bills – reg. - DGFT - 04

The Trade Industry are hereby informed that whenever they make exports, they are required to fill up the relevant column in the shipping bill meant for the State of Origin for the goods exported. It has come to our notice that many of the exporters are not complying with the mandatory requirements of filling up of the information of the state of origin Code in the shipping bills. Because of this, the timely and reliable exim data base compiled and prepared by the DGCI S (Director General Commercial and Intelligence Services) is facing difficulty in culling of the information. As you are all aware that the Ministry of Commerce, Government of India has announced a scheme called ASIDE (Assistance to the States for Infrastructural Development for Exports and Allied Activities). This assistance in the form of financial grants to the State Governments and Union Territories will be disbursed on the basis of the share of exports and incremental growth of exports in the respectives States/UTs. Due to the non-availability of the data in the shipping bills, the export figures from each State/UT are not reflected in the Daily Trade Returns (DTR) being transmitted by the Customs to the DGCI S. In view of the above, it is once again requested that all concerned with export activities shall take adequate steps in filling up the State of Origin Code in the shipping bills while submitting the same to the Customs.
