No. S/6-83/2010-Admn Dated:- 16.08.2011 PUBLIC NOTICE NO. 67/2011 SUB:- Supply of card holders details for Biometric Smart Cards-reg. All Custom House Agents, Bombay Custom House Agents Association (BCHAA), other CHA Associations and members of trade are hereby informed that Biometric Smart Cards will be issued to all Customs Pass holding Custom House Agents, their employees and representatives of importers/exporters operating on self basis in place of the existing plastic coated magnetic strip based Customs passes which they are presently holding. The Biometric Smart Cards are mandatory. 2. The said Biometric Smart Cards will contain all the information related to the individual and the CHA concern/firm/company in digitally encoded form in an embedded electronic chip. The cards will have to be updated and revalidated every time there is a change in any of the details contained therein. These Biometric Smart Cards will serve as fool proof identification/authentication devices for the CHAs, their employees and Self card holders. 3. The substitution of the existing Customs passes with Biometric Smart Cards will be done in a phased manner beginning with the CHA s who operate in New Custom House. 4. All importers/exporters of Self category and Custom House Agents are hereby directed to furnish the details of all their Directors/Partners/Proprietor/employees who are holding Customs passes, in the proforma prescribed in Annexure-A by 26.08.2011, so as to enable the department to make preparations for issue of Biometric Smart Cards to all Customs pass holders. 5. After the details of the card holders are furnished all the Customs pass holders will have to individually report for recording of their fingerprints, signature and photograph at a scheduled time and venue which will be intimated in due course. 6. Biometric Smart Cards are compulsory for all CHAs/Self clients and it will serve the purpose of Customs pass cum Identity Card and will be used as authentication tool to verify the identity of the card holder during transaction of CHA business. 7. All CHAs and the BCHAA should extend their full co-operation to the department in this exercise. The contents of this Public Notice may be communicated to all the CHA s and members of trade through their respective Associations. 8. No information should be left blank. 4) This format should be strictly adhered to. 5) CHAs can see the filled in sample form on the website (www.mumbaicustoms.gov.in) and accordingly fill the details in correct manner. 6) In case of any doubt please clarify with the CHA Section but do not submit partially filled/incomplete/wrongly filled form under any circumstances. 7) Incorrectly filled or incomplete forms are liable to be rejected and card will not be issued to such person(s).
