Verification/updation of Carrier Agencies and CHA Directories for implementation in ICES 1.5 - Customs - 62/2010

No. S/1-64/2008 EDI Part-III Dated: 09/09/2010 PUBLIC NOTICE No. 62 /2010 Sub: Verification/updation of Carrier Agencies and CHA Directories for implementation in ICES 1.5 In partial modification of Public Notice No. 20/2010 Dtd. 28/05/2010, it is brought to the notice of all the Carrier Agencies (Shipping Lines, Mainline Agents, Subline Agents, Freight Forwarders, Consol Agents, Airlines and other carriers), that the verification of Carrier Agency Code Directory at NCH, Mumbai, is required to be done in the following manner: CARRIER AGENCIES WHO ARE ALREADY REGISTERED: 2. For the Carrier Agencies who are already registered, only verification of their details is required to be done. For this purpose, the Carrier Agencies are required to give the form duly filled in enclosed with the Public Notice No. 20/2010 Dtd. 28/05/2010 alongwith copies of attested documents as mentioned in the form. The verification would focus mainly upon correctness of PAN alongwith other details. 3. The Carrier Agencies may submit duly filled in form alongwith documents to the EDI Help Desk located at 2nd Fl., Annex Bldg., NCH, Mumbai. After the verification, the incorrect details if any would be handed over immediately to the respective Carrier Agencies for confirmation. It may be noted that during the verification process, no change is permitted in the PAN and in the name of the entity as confirmed from Income Tax Dept. The Changes in other parameters would be based on verification of documents provided viz. Agency Certificates, PAN cards etc. In case the PAN is incorrect, fresh registration in the system would be required. 4. After verification in case of any errors or discrepancies, the same would be communicated to the Carrier Agencies through Phone/E-Mail/Fax, immediately because of shortage of time and then a formal letter would follow. After verification, in case the records are found to be correct, the EDI Help Desk, would display the list of Carrier Agencies whose details are found to be correct on the Notice Board near Service Centre, at 2nd Fl., Annex Bldg., NCH, Mumbai, on a daily basis. A copy of this list would also be sent on a daily basis to MANSAA. NEW APPLICANTS: 5 In case of new applicants, the same process as mentioned above at para 3 4, would be followed for registration. The details are to be provided to the EDI Help Desk located at 2nd Fl., Annex Bldg., NCH, Mumbai. In case of discrepancies, the same would be communicated as mentioned in para 4 above. If there is no problem in registration, the list of newly registered Carrier Agencies will be displayed on the Notice Board, near Service Centre, at 2nd Fl., Annex Bldg., NCH, Mumbai. A copy of this list would be sent on a daily basis to MANSAA. 6. As already mentioned in above-said Public Notice, it may be noted that: i) The PAN itself is the registration number in the system. ii) The same PAN can be used to register for different business activities e.g. Shipping Lines, Shipping Agents etc. iii) The Registration at a single policy location (e.g. NCH, Mumbai) is sufficient to enable the agencies to operate at any EDI location in the country. iv) After registration at a particular location (e.g. NCH, Mumbai), the particulars may be updated at any one of the 19 policy locations. 7. As already mentioned in above-said Public Notice, it may be noted that in case the agencies do not get their particulars verified/ re-registered, they would not be able to transact business after NCH, Mumbai migrates to ICES 1.5. 8.
