ALL INDIA RADIO NAVRANGPURA, AHMEDABAD: 380009 F.No: VIII/48-17/CUS/Val/2008 Dated : 12th January, 2009 PUBLIC NOTICE NO. 02/2009 Sub : Anomaly in mentioning of Unit Quantity Code in Bills of Entry and Import Documents reg. The Directorate General of Valuation (DGOV), CBEC has observed that while filing Bills of Entry for the clearance of imported goods, the importers/their agents many a times are not mentioning the correct Unit Quantity Code (UQC) for the items under import. It may be mentioned that the UQC for each item has been provided in the schedule to the Customs Tariff Act against each entry/CTH. It is therefore brought to the notice of the public that while filing B s/E for clearance of imported goods, the UQC as provided in the schedule to the CTA, 1985 may be correctly mentioned in the relevant entry column. All the Trade Associations/Chambers of Commerce and Members of Regional Advisory Committee and Custom House Agents Association are requested to publicise the contents of this Public Notice amongst their Members/Constituents, for their information and necessary action.
