Date: 06.02.2009 PUBLIC NOTICE NO. 05/2009 Sub: Request for issue of export certificate at Bangalore International Airport - Reg. Attention of all passengers is invited to the practice of issuing export certificate at the time of departure from India to facilitate the re-import of high value articles including jewellery carried out of the country by the departing passengers at Bangalore International Airport, Devanahalli. Instances have come to the notice that passengers are approaching Customs officers after immigration clearance and before boarding the Air craft and requesting for issue of export certificate for high value jewellery carried by them claiming that the gold jewellery is studded with diamonds and precious stones. It has to be appreciated that due to constraints of time and facility it is difficult to evaluate the value of the jewellery studded with diamonds or precious stones and other high value items. Hence in order to assess the correct value of such high value jewellery/items, the same may please be presented to Customs at least 24 hours in advance so that the correct value can be ascertained. Alternatively the passengers may provide the document like purchase invoice/valuation certificate issued by authorized valuer in support of their claim for valuation of the jewellery/items at the time of obtaining export certificate.
