It has come to the notice of the Department that in many cases, units of measurement as declared by the importers/exporters/their authorized CHAs, at the time of filing of B/E or S/B are in non-standard units other than those prescribed in the First Schedule of the Customs Tariff Act, 1975 as amended. This is a clear violation of the provisions of the CTA 1975 and may attract Penal Action under said Act or any other law prevailing. 2. Hence, all the importers/exporters/authorized CHAs are hereby directed to declare the units of quantity, only in terms of standard units of quantity, at the time of filing B/E or S/B as prescribed in the First Schedule of the CTA 1975., except where the export goods attracts Duties in terms of the Second Schedule of the CTA 1975., the units of measurement of the quantity should be declared as given the Second Schedule of the CTA 1975., at the time of export.
