Misc.7128/2005 Group 6 Date: 25.02.2009 PUBLIC NOTICE NO. 04/2009 Sub: Import of Zip Fasteners (CTH 9607) reg. It is noticed that Bills of Entry are being filed by the importers/Trading Public/Custom House Agents for clearance of Zip Fasteners (CTH 9607) without full information relevant for valuation such as i) material of make (polyester, nylon, aluminium, brass, etc.) and ii) size (length and width) of zip fasteners. It is also noticed that different Unit Quantity Codes (YDS, PCS, DOZ, SET, NOS, etc.) are being declared in respect of individual consignments The Customs Tariff prescribes Unit Quantity Code (UQC) for zip fasteners to be kilogram. In practice, it is noticed that different Unit Quantity Codes are declared in the various Custom Houses/formations and vary even in the same Customs formation, from one bill of entry to another. These practices make it difficult to do comparison among different consignments of Zip Fasteners. Therefore, all the importers/Trading Public/Custom House Agents are required to correctly declare in the Bills of Entry and in their connected documents for clearance of Zip Fasteners (CTH 9607), the material of make of the zip fasteners (polyester, nylon, aluminium, brass, etc.), the size and other specifications of zip fasteners as well as the Unit Quantity Code as kilogram as specified in the Customs Tariff.
