Feeding of Brand Name, Uniform Quantity Code etc. in Bills of Entry- reg. - Customs - 74/2002Extract OFFICE OF THE COMMISSIONER OF CUSTOMS (GENERAL) NEW CUSTOM HOUSE, BALLARD ESTATE MUMBAI 400001 DATE : 13/06/2002 P. No. 74/2002 Sub : Feeding of Brand Name, Uniform Quantity Code etc. in Bills of Entry- reg. It has been observed that while presenting the Bills of Entry for noting/assesment, the details of brand name, make, model, size, specification, composition, strength etc. are not properly stated in the representative column alongwith description. Consequently, the available data of the Computer System is incomplete for utilization to compare the value of similar/identical goods. It is also observed the quantities are not uniformly declared, so as to use the data in a meaningful manner by the assessing officer. The CHA's/Importers are requested to ensure that the invoice/packing list and related documents should clearly identify the make, model, brand name, quantity, specification, size etc. before submission of Bills of Entry for assessment, so that these relevant details may be feed in the computer system at the time of noting itself. The appraising office and Deputy Commissioner at the time of assessment/examination shall also ensure that the details of brand name, model, quantity, specification, size, make etc are correctly reflected in the Bills of entry. In case additional features are identified during examination, same would also be suitably recorded for case of reference for valuation data purpose. Sd/- (RAMESH RAMCHANDRA) COMMISSIONER OF CUSTOMS (G) MUMBAI
