Warehousing interest of Ex bond BE in ICES - Customs - 16/2012Extract OFFICE OF THE COMMISSIONER OF CUSTOMS CUSTOM HOUSE COCHIN - 682009 C1/01/2012 TU Cus. Date: 01.11 .2012 TRADE FACILITY NO. : 16 /2012 Sub: Warehousing interest of Ex bond BE in ICES Attention of the Importers, Customs House Agents, Trade partners, Stake holders and all other concerned is invited to the Public Notice No. 37/2007 dated 12.12.2007 issued by this Custom House for the clearances of the imported goods from the bonded warehouse. Directorate of Systems has informed that provision has been made in ICES 1.5 for calculating warehousing interest under Section 61 of Customs Act, 1962 for ex-bond Bills of Entry where the duty has been paid in cash. This functionality has been activated in the system with effect from 16.10.2012. In this regard, it may be noted that provision for entering date of warehousing in respect of warehoused Bills of Entry has been made in Shed Superintendent (SUP) role and ex bond officer (SUX) role. However, warehousing date in respect of in-bond Bills of Entry can be entered at the Custom location where into bond Bill of Entry was filed and processed. In case the duty has been paid by debiting against reward scrips the duty shall be calculated manually by Superintendent. Before filing ex-bond Bill of Entry, importer/Custom House Agent has to ensure that warehousing date has been entered. Without warehousing date, ex-bond Bill of Entry cannot be filed. It may be noted that as per Board s clarification warehousing date is the relevant date for calculating 90 days interest free period under Section 61 of the Customs Act, 1962. In the light of the above it has been decided that all the goods which are to be removed to the warehousing for bonding under Section 46 of the Customs Act, 1962 and are deposited in the warehouses under 60 of the Customs Act, 1962 shall produce a certificate in the prescribed proforma attached for the purpose of the relevant date of deposit of the goods in the warehouse.
