Insecticides Fourth Amendment Rules, 2017- Restriction on places of Import of Insecticides - Customs - 07/2018

Date: 07.03.2018 TRADE FACILITY NO. 07/2018 Sub: Insecticides Fourth Amendment Rules, 2017- Restriction on places of Import of Insecticides - Reg. Kind attention of importers, Customs Brokers, Steamer Agents and all other stakeholders is drawn to the Insecticides (Fourth Amendment) Rules, 2017 dated 22.12.2017 notified by the Ministry of Agriculture and Family Welfare. 2. Rule 45 of the said Rules has imposed restrictions on the place of Import of Insecticides (appearing in the Schedule of Insecticides Act, 1968) into India clarifying that Import of Insecticides into India shall be allowed only through the following Places: (i) Inland Container Depot, Gurugram (Gurgaon), (ii) Chennai Port, Jawaharlal Nehru Port and Mumbai Port (Mumbai), in respect of insecticides imported by sea into India, (iii) Chennai International Airport (Chennai), Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport (Mumbai), Indira Gandhi International Airport (New Delhi), in respect of insecticides imported by air into India 3. By virtue of the above amendment, Cochin is no longer a notified Port for the import of Insecticides appearing in the Schedule of Insecticides Act, 1968 (as amended). In view of the above, all the stakeholders are required to take cognisance and comply with the Rules in respect of Import of Insecticides. 4.
