No- S31-12/2018 SIU Pt-I Date: 20.06.2018 PUBLIC NOTICE NO. 60/2018 Sub: Prohibition/restriction on carrying cash in excess of ₹ 5000 by all private persons visiting Customs House including staffs of Customs Brokers It is well known that almost all Customs related transactions are online, Even the documents are now being submitted online following e-sanchit. Despite these, it has come to notice that many persons are carrying unusual huge amount of cash in office premises. Carrying huge amount of cash inside office premises may create an unhealthy atmosphere, which is against the efforts of Govt, of India to make a corruption free India. In light of the above, it has been decided that all private persons visiting Customs House carrying cash in excess of ₹ 5000 (Rupees Five thousands only) including staffs of Customs Brokers, have to declare the same before the Superintendent of Customs (Prey.) SCH and Custom House Security. Any deviation from this stipulation may result in confiscation of excess undeclared cash and initiation of action against the person concerned, including referring the matter to appropriate authority. Officers will continue to be governed by the CCS (Conduct) Rules, 1964. This is issued with the Approval of the Chief Commissioner of Customs, Kolkata Zone.
