No. VIII/13-98/Cus/T/2014 Dt. 23.09.2014 Public Notice No. 17/2014 Subject :- Processing of Shipping Bill in Manual Mode U/S 74 of the Customs Act, 1962 at all the Ports/ICDs/CFS falling under Ahmedabad Customs Jurisdiction Attention of all the Exporters, Customs Brokers and members of Trade and all other concerned is invited to the present practice of allowing filing of shipping bills/bills of entry in individual cases in manual mode by taking the prior approval of the Commissioner. 2. It has been observed that the shipping bills for re-export filed under Section 74 of the Customs Act, 1962 have to be compulsorily filed in manual mode in all cases because of the lack of the facility in this regard at present in the ICES System. Thus, in each and every case of filing of shipping bill under Sec. 74, the file is put up to the Commissioner. 3. To mitigate the difficulties faced by the trade and as a facilitation measure the present system of permitting and filing shipping bills under Section 74 of the Customs Act, 1962 under manual mode has been reviewed. It has now been decided that henceforth, manual noting of shipping bills for the re-export of goods under Section 74 of the Customs Act, 1962 will be automatically allowed by DC/AC of the field formation concerned. 4. It is reiterated that all other categories of shipping bills/all bills of entry where manual filing is required will continue to be allowed only with specific approval of Commissioner in each case. 5. All the Trade Associations/Chamber of Commerce and Members of Regional Advisory Committee and Custom House Agents Association are requested to publicize the contents of this Public Notice among their Members/Constituents for their information and necessary action. 6. Any difficulty, if faced, in the implementation of this Public Notice may be brought to the notice of the undersigned. 7.
