Procedure for export of Sona Masuri rice - Customs - PUBLIC NOTICE NO. 08/2011Extract GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF FINANCE OFFICE OF THE COMMISSIONER OF CUSTOMS, CHENNAI SEAPORT CUSTOM HOUSE, NO.60, RAJAJI SAL-A, CHENNAI-600 001 F. No. S.Misc.72/2011-EDC Dated: 09.03.2011 PUBLIC NOTICE NO. 08/2011 Sub: Procedure for export of Sona Masuri rice - reg. Kind attention of the Trade and General Public is invited to the Notification No. 21 (RE-2010)/2009-2014 dated 10.02.2011 and Public Notice No.36 (RE-2010)/2009- 2014 dated 01.03.2011 of Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) regarding procedure for export of Sona Masuri, Ponni Samba and Matta rice. It may be noticed that as per the above Public Notice of DGFT read with the Notification, a quantity of 50,000 MTS of Sona Masuri rice is permitted for export through Chennai Seaport subjected to the following mandatory conditions: (i) The export would be in consumer packs of upto 10 Kgs each (not more than 10Kg per pack) (ii) A maximum quantity of 5000 MTS for all 3 varieties would be allowed for export per IEC (It would be on self declaration basis: declaration to be filed with customs at the time of shipment and later with concerned RA in the format given in Annexure - I to this Public Notice) (iii) The export would be allowed only during RMS, 2010-11 i.e., upto 30.09.2011. (iv) Customs will draw necessary sample(s) and get them tested for quality analysis from AGMARK Laboratories. Copy of the test report be sent to concerned RA who would keep a watch for possible violation/misdeclaration and take necessary action under FT (D R) Act. 2) With a view to regulate and permit the quantity of export of rice at the time of shipment the following procedure is prescribed: i) The exporter shall file shipping bill for the quantity for which they propose to export ii) The quantity exported will be monitored based on 'Let Export' allowed after the goods are brought in any of the CFS attached to Custom House, Chennai for export iii) Necessary sample(s) will be drawn before allowing 'Let Export' for testing for quality analysis from AGMARK laboratory. iv) The goods which are presented first for Let Export will be allowed first. v) Deputy Commissioner (Docks) shall monitor clearances of export of Sona Masuri rice on the basis of copy of Shipping Bill after LEO on daily basis. He shall take special steps for monitoring exports once 45000 MTs is crossed before the allowed quantity of 50,000 MTS from Chennai Port. He shall issue a closure notice when the limit of export is exhausted. vi) The quantity of rice exported will be updated in the Custom House Website on a daily basis (SANJA K MAR AGARWAL) COMMISSIONER OF CUSTOMS SEAPORT-EXPORT
