No. 218/63/87- 6] Government of India Ministry of Finance (Department of Revenue) New Delhi Subject : Abolition of L-2 (Tobacco) licence - Recommendation No. 1.16 of Group V of Collectors Conference held in November, 1987 - Regarding. It had been recommended by Group V of the Collectors Conference held in November, 1987 that L-2 (tobacco) licence which is presently required to be taken by those persons who purchase/store unmanufactured tobacco for the purpose of trade exceeding 200 quintals per year and also by those persons who use unmanufactured tobacco for the purposes of manufacture of tobacco products, should be dispensed with. 2. The matter has been examined by the Board. Vide Notification No. 10/88, dated 15-4-1988, Notification No. 41/79, dated 1-3-1979 has been rescinded. Therefore, L-2 (tobacco) licence is not required to be taken by any person now. 3. Trade interest may also be suitably informed.
