Bushings - Worn out/used bushings not chargeable to excise duty Letter No. B.22/19/86-TRU Dated 27-5-1986 Government of India Ministry of Finance (Department of Revenue) New Delhi Attention is invited to Notification No. 313/86-C.E., dated the 20th May, 1986 which exempts bushings made of an alloy of platinum and rhodium falling within Chapter 71 of the Schedule to the Central Excise Tariff Act, 1985 when the said bushings are used within the factory of production in the manufacture of glass fibre. It hás been represented by the manufacturers of glass fibre that the bushings after having been used in the manufacture of glass fibre may have to be sent outside the factory for remelting. It is clarified that when once the bushings have been used in the manufacture of glass fibre and have become worn out, there will be no bar in sending the same outside the factory for remelting as these bushings have been used in the manufacture of glass fibre. No excise duty will be chargeable on the worn out/used bushings.
