Fabrics - Shrinkage of - Reduction in demand Letter No. 261/21/85-CX.8 Dated 17-10-1986 Government of India Ministry of Finance (Department of Revenue) New Delhi There have been many representations from the trade requesting that demands raised on shrinkage of fabrics, which is inevitable in the process of its manufacture, should be withdrawn and a reasonable reduction of shrinkage should be allowed. 2. The Board has examined the matter in consultation with DGICCE. It has not been possible to prescribe any uniform norm in this regard. The Board has directed that each case be decided on its merits disallowing any unusual shrinkage claimed by the manufacturer.
