Destruction of excisable goods - Central Excise - 218/26/86-CX.6Extract Destruction of excisable goods Letter No. 218/26/86-CX.6 Dated 25-9-1986 Government of India Ministry of Finance (Department of Revenue) New Delhi The trade has brought to the notice of the Board in the 28th Meeting of Customs and Central Excise Advisory Council held on 1st and 2nd July, 1986, that Central Excise Authorities take quite long time in granting permission to the assessees for destroying excisable goods. This avoidable delay results in hardship to trade. 2. Instructions already exist that applications making request for destruction should be disposed of within 2 months. This time the limit is unduly long. It has, therefore, been decided by the Board that in future such applications should be disposed of within 2 days of the receipt of the same when no test are required to be carried out.
