Clarification regarding applicability of the conditions of Public Notice No. 9/1997-2002 dated 20.5.97 in respect of export of handicrafts of Bone and Horn products - DGFT - 13/97-98Extract Policy Circular No. 13/97-98 Dated 29th July, 1997 Subject:- Clarification regarding applicability of the conditions of Public Notice No. 9/1997-2002 dated 20.5.97 in respect of export of handicrafts of Bone and Horn products. Attention is invited to the Public Notice No. 9/1997 -2002 dated 20.5.1997 whereby a new entry at SI. No.35 was added in the Schedule 2 Appendix 1 of the book titled "ITC (HS) Classifications of Export and Import Items 1997 -2002" for allowing export of Bones and bone products (excluding bone meal), horn and horn products (excluding horn meal) and hooves and hoof products (excluding hoof meal) to the European Union subject to production of a certificate from Chemicals and Allied Products Export Promotion Council (CAPEXIL) regarding production process. 2. In this connection, a number of representations have been received as to 'whether Public Notice No. 9/1997 -2002 dated 20.5.97 is also applicable in case of exports of Handicrafts made out of bone and bone products, horn and horn products etc. 3. The matter has been considered in consultation with Ministry of Commerce. Accordingly it is clarified that the Public Notice No. 9/1997-2002 dated 20.5.97 is applicable to exports of bone and bones products, horn and horn products, hoof and hoof products (excluding bone/horn/hoof meal) for further processing not intended for human or animal consumption. Since handicrafts made out of bone and horn products are finished products and are not being exported for further processing, not intended for human or animal consumption, the above Public Notice shall not be applicable to exports of such handicrafts items made out of bone and horn products.
