INSTRUCTION NO 168/CBDT, Dated: May 2, 1970 The all India percentage of N.A. cases in the year 1968-69 was as high as 20.85. From the available figures, it appears that N.A. cases continued to constitute a sizeable part of the disposals for the year 1969-70 also. It has been observed by the Board that the number of N.A. cases is increasing year after year as proper steps are not being taken to weed out the infructuous cases from our registers. The ineffective cases only serve to give an unreal picture of the workload and must be weeded out to have a clear idea of the actual pendency. The Commissioners are requested to draw the attention of the ITOs to the instructions contained in para 1 of Chapter XII of the Office Manual Vol.II, Section II, and ensure that the work of weeding out of infructous cases is completed this year latest by the 15th July, 1970 and the results reported to the Board by 31st July, 1970.
