Refunds. - Income Tax - 1859/1990

INSTRUCTION NO. 1859/1990 Dated: September 25, 1990 Reference is invited to Board's Instruction No.562 dated 27th June, 1973 in which it had been decided to raise the limit of refunds to be issued with the prior approval of the Inspecting Assistant Commissioner (now Deputy Commissioner) from Rs.1000 to Rs.5000. 2. With a view to expediting the issue of refunds, it has now been decided that this limit of Rs.5000 will be further raised to Rs.10,000/-. Therefore, prior approval of the Deputy Commissioner of Income-tax should now be obtained in cases where the refund amount exceeds Rs.10,000/- (ten thousand). 3. This may be brought to the notice of all officers working in your region.
