Rescinds the sector specific Special Economic Zone for Information Technology at Villages Jagtala and Bangla, District South 24 Parganas in the state of West Bengal - S.O. 1133(E) - Special Economic Zone

MINISTRY OF COMMERCE AND INDUSTRY (Department of Commerce) NOTIFICATION New Delhi, the 1st May, 2013 S.O. 1133(E).- Whereas, M/s. Bata India Limited, had proposed under section 3 of the Special Economic Zones Act, 2005 (28 of 2005) , (hereinafter referred to as the said Act) to set up a sector specific Special Economic Zone for Information Technology at Villages Jagtala and Bangla, District South 24 Parganas in the state of West Bengal; And, Whereas, the Central Government, in exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of Section 4 of the said Act read with rule 8 of the Special Economic Zone Rules 2006 , had notified an area of 10.1141908 hectares at above location as Special Economic Zone vide Ministry of Commerce and Industry Notification Number S. O. 66(E) dated 09th January, 2008 ; And Whereas, M/s. Bata India Limited has proposed to de-notify the entire area of 10.1141908 hectares of the above Special Economic Zone and the Central Government has granted letter of approval for de-notification of above area on 21st June, 2010; Now Therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred by first proviso to rule 8 of the Special Economic Zones Rules 2006 , the Central Government hereby rescinds the above notification except as respects things done or omitted to be done before such rescission.
