SECURITIES AND EXCHANGE BOARD OF INDIA NOTIFICATION Mumbai, the 26th December, 2000 S.O.1160(E).- In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 30 of the Securities and Exchange Board of India Act, 1992, (15 of 1992), the Board hereby makes the following regulations to amend the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Depositories and Participants) Regulations, 1966 :- 1. These regulations may be called the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Depositories and Participants) (Amendment) Regulations, 2000. 2. They shall come into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette. 3. In the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Depositories and Participants) Regulations, 1996 (hereinafter referred to as the 'regulations')- (a) in regulation 2, in sub-regulation (1), in clause (g), the following shall be inserted namely ;- Explanation : Any person who acting alone or in combination with others holds not less than 51% of the share capital of the depository as a sponsor and undertakes to perform the obligation under these regulations shall be deemed to be a sponsor for the purpose of these regulations.
