Central Government de-notifies an area of 17.6264 hectares, thereby making the resultant area as 20.4149 hectares at Ahmedabad in the State of Gujarat - S.O. 3639 (E) - Special Economic Zone

MINISTRY OF COMMERCE AND INDUSTRY (Department of Commerce) (SEZ Division) NOTIFICATION New Delhi, the 28th August, 2024 S.O. 3639(E). WHEREAS, M/s. Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation, a state industrial promotion organization in the State of Gujarat had proposed under section 3 of the Special Economic Zones Act, 2005 (28 of 2005) , (hereinafter referred to as the said Act) to set up a sector-specific Special Economic Zone for Apparel Sector at Ahmedabad in the State of Gujarat; AND, WHEREAS, the Central Government, in the exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 4 of the said Act read with rule 8 of the Special Economic Zones Rules 2006 , notified an area of 38.0413 hectares at the above Special Economic Zone vide Ministry of Commerce and Industry Notification Numbers S.O. 543(E) dated 10th April, 2007 respectively; AND, WHEREAS, M/s. Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation has now proposed for de-notification of 17.6264 hectares from the above Special Economic Zone; AND, WHEREAS, the State Government of Gujarat has given its approval to the proposal vide letter No. IC/INFRA/NOC/1697670 dated 04.02.2021. Further, after de-notification, the land parcels would be utilized towards the creation of infrastructure which would sub-serve the objective of the SEZ as originally envisaged; AND, WHEREAS, the Development Commissioner, Kandla Special Economic Zone has recommended the proposal for de-notification of an area of 17.6264 hectares of the Special Economic Zone; NOW, WHEREAS, the Central Government is satisfied that the requirements under sub-section (8) of section 3 of the said Act and other related requirements are fulfilled; NOW, THEREFORE, in the exercise of the powers conferred by the first proviso to sub-section (1) of section 4 of the Special Economic Zones Act, 2005 , and in pursuance of rule 8 of the Special Economic Zones Rules, 2006 , the Central Government hereby de-notifies an area of 17.6264 hectares, thereby making the resultant area as 20.4149 hectares.
