Dated 16-9-1997 In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-rule (1) of rule 3 of the Customs Tariff (Identification and Assessment of Safeguard Duty) Rules, 1997, the Central Government hereby appoints Shri R.K. Gupta, Additional Director General in the Office of the Director General of Inspection, Customs and Central Excise, New Delhi, as the Director General (Safeguards) for the purposes of the said rules.
