Rescinded vide Notification No. 21/97-Cus dated 1-3-1997 Effective rate for specified goods imported for specific purposes Notification No. 57/94-Cus. Dated 1-3-1994 In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 25 of the Customs Act, 1962 (52 of 1962), the Central Government, being satisfied that it is necessary in the public interest so to do, hereby exempts the goods specified in column (2) of the table hereto annexed and falling within the First Schedule to the Customs Tariff Act, 1975 (51 of 1975), when imported into India for the purposes specified in column (3) of the Table from so much of that portion of the duty of customs leviable thereon which is specified in the said First Schedule, as is in excess of the amount calculated at the rate of 25% ad valorem , subject to the condition that the importer at the time of importation furnishes an undertaking to the Assistant Collector of Customs to the effect that the said goods shall be used for the aforesaid purposes and the same shall not be sold or otherwise disposed of in any manner for a period of atleast two years from the date of importation and in the event of his failure to comply with the said conditions, he shall be liable to pay an amount equal to the difference between the duty leviable on the said imported goods but for the exemption contained herein and that already paid at the time of importation : TABLE S.
