Effective rates for specified goods falling within Chapter 37 Notification No. 31/94-Cus. Dated 1-3-1994 In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 25 of the Customs Act, 1962 (52 of 1962), the Central Government, being satisfied that it is necessary in the public interest so to do, hereby exempts goods of the description specified in column (2) of the Table annexed hereto and falling within Chapter 37 of the First Schedule to the Customs Tariff Act, 1975 (51 of 1975) when imported into India from so much of the duty of customs leviable thereon which is specified in the said First Schedule as is in excess of ten per cent ad valorem and from the whole of the additional duty of customs leviable thereon under section 3 of the said Customs Tariff Act, subject to the conditions, if any, specified in the corresponding entry in column (3) of the said Table. Exposed cinematographic films If certified by the Ministry of Defence that the film is meant for training of Defence Personnel and is predominantly educational in character. 4. Films and video cassettes If certified by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting that such films and video cassettes are intended for archival study or record and reference purposes.
