Exemption to specified parts falling under Chapter 90 - 173/89 - Customs -TariffExtract Exemption to specified parts falling under Chapter 90 Notification No. 173/89-Cus. Dated 29-5-1989 In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 25 of the Customs Act, 1962 (52 of 1962), the Central Government, being satisfied that it is necessary in the public interest so to do, hereby exempts the goods falling under Chapter 90 of the First Schedule to the Customs Tariff Act, 1975 (51 of 1975) specified in column 2 of the table hereto annexed, when imported into India, from so much of that portion of the duty of customs leviable thereon which is specified in the said First Schedule as is in excess of the amount calculated at the rate of 40 per cent ad valorem . TABLE S. No. Description of goods (1) (2) (1) Parts of instruments and apparatus,- (i) for physical or chemical analysis. (ii) for measuring or checking the viscosity, porosity, expansion, surface-tension or the like. (iii) for measuring or checking quantities of heat, light or sound (excluding exposure meters). (iv) for testing mechanically the hardness, strength, compressibility, elasticity and the like properties of industrial materials (for example metals, wood, textiles, paper or plastics); and (2) Parts of Microtomes. 2. This notification shall come into force on the 1st day of June, 1989.
