Exemption to all goods from additional duty as is equivalent to special excise duty Notification No. 169/89-Cus. Dated 12-5-1989 In exercise of the powers conferred by the sub-section (1) of section 25 of the Customs Act, 1962 (52 of 1962) and in supersession of the notification of the Government of India in the Ministry of Finance (Department of Revenue) No. 118/89-Customs, dated the 1st March, 1989, the Central Government, being satisfied that it is necessary in the public interest so to do, hereby exempts all goods covered by the First Schedule to the Customs Tariff Act, 1975 (51 of 1975), when imported into India, from so much of the additional duty leviable thereon under Section 3 of the second-mentioned Act, as is equivalent to the special duty of excise leviable under sub-section (1) of Section 37 of the Finance Act, 1989 (13 of 1989) on like goods produced or manufactured in India.
