Exemption to specified Goods Imported in connection with off-shore oil exploration or exploitation Notification No. 134/89-Cus. Dated 31-3-1989 In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 25 of the Customs Act, 1962 (52 of 1962) and in supersession of the notification of the Government of India in the Ministry of Finance (Department of Revenue) No. 334/88-Customs, dated the 31st December, 1988, the Central Government, being satisfied that it is necessary in the public interest so to do, hereby exempts the goods specified in the table below, when imported into India in connection with the purposes of off-shore oil exploration or off-shore oil exploitation, from the whole of the duty of customs leviable thereon under the First Schedule to the Customs Tariff Act, 1975 (51 of 1975) and from the whole of the additional duty, if any, leviable thereon under Section 3 of the said Customs Tariff Act, subject to the condition that the importer produces, at the time of clearance of the goods, a certificate issued by the Member Secretary of the Empowered Committee on the Indigenisation of the Oil Field Equipment and Services of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Government of India, certifying that the said goods are essential for the purposes of the said off-shore oil exploration or off-shore oil exploitation.
