MINISTRY OF COMMERCE AND INDUSTRY (Department of Commerce) NOTIFICATION New Delhi , the 2nd July, 2008 S.O.1606 (E) - Whereas M/s. Mahindra Gesco Developers Limited, a private organization in the State of Maharashtra, has proposed under section 3 of the Special Economic Zones Act, 2005 (28 of 2005), (hereinafter referred to as the said Act) to set up a sector specific Special Economic Zone for biotechnology sector at village Owale, Ghodbunder Road, District Thane in the State of Maharashtra; And whereas the Central Government is satisfied that requirements under sub-section (8) of section 3 of the said Act, and other related requirements are fulfilled and it has granted letter of approval under sub-section (10) of section 3 of the said Act for development, operation and maintenance of the sector specific Special Economic Zone for biotechnology sector at Owale village area on the 21st August 2006; And whereas M/s. Mahindra Gesco Developers Limited has proposed for the transfer of the approval to M/s. Mahindra and Mahindra Limited in the State of Maharashtra and the Central Government after considering the said transfer proposal approved it and conveyed such transfer of approval on 19th June, 2007; Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 4 of the Special Economic Zones, Act 2005 and in pursuance of rule 8 of the Special Economic Zones Rules, 2006 , the Central Government hereby notifies the following area at village Owale, Ghodbunder Road, District Thane in the State of Maharashtra, comprising of the survey numbers and the area given below in the Table, as a Special Economic Zone, namely: - TABLE S.
