BOA of SEZ Grants 10 Formal and 2 In-principle Approvals

The Board of Approval of the Special Economic Zones (SEZs) after considering 19 applications for setting up SEZs has recommended grant of 10 Formal approvals and 2 In-principle approvals here today. The chairman of the board while informing the members of the Board stated that so far formal approvals have been granted for setting up of 386 SEZs out of which 149 have been notified and added that over Rs. 47732 crore have been invested in these notified SEZs and that these SEZs are providing direct employment to over 40729 persons.  The prominent among those recommended are: -

Formal approvals for an IT/ITES SEZ by Tata Consultancy Services Limited in Gujarat; 3 IT/ITES SEZ by Navi Mumbai SEZ Private Limited in Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra; and an IT/ITES SEZ by Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation, Gujarat.

In Principle approval for a textile SEZ by Jindal Worldwide Limited in Gujarat.
