Transfer of Machine from one branch to other branch purchased under EPCG license

  • Contents

We are manufacturer and imported machine under EPCG license. The obligation is not completed but want to transfer the said machine to our other sister unit. Let me know the procedure and whether the machine will be cleared on payment of central excise duty on current value or it can be removed without payment of c.excise duty.

Please submit an application to EPCG Committee in this regard by providing full details of machine, EPCG License and just check whether the both units have been incorporated in your IEC and RCMC or not. After obtaining the permission you can shift the capital goods. However, you would have to submit installation certificate within prescribed time limit again.

Dear Friend,

The equipment can be transferred if the other unit address also covered in the application and the EPCG Authorization under which the subject equipment is imported. If it is otherwise, and considering that your export obligation is still in progress, You can apply for inclusion of your other unit in the said Authorization to your RLA and after getting the endorsement of such inclusion, you may transfer the equipment under intimation to RLA without payment of duty.

However, it is advisable that the final products manufactured and exported from the other unit also are similar category.

In any other case, if you want to transfer without payment of duty, then it is suggested to apply for EPCG Committee, DGFT, New Delhi for necessary approval.

Hope it is clear

Best Regards

Ours is a similar case. We imported some capital equipment for a Plant and the plant address is mentioned in the EPCG License. However since the equipment is big and due to space constraints like covered warehouse we would like to move the equipment to location 70km from the Plant. It would be just stored at this location and the final installation will happen at the plant only at a later date.

Can we store the EPCG equipment at other Locations ?

How can we do this?

Dear Friend,

The procedure explained in my previous mail also applies to your case too.
