CAN ONE PAY RENT TO HIS WIFE TO CLAIM HRA BENEFIT.

Yes, if the wife is real as well as beneficial owner of house, the house is used by the husband for his residence and rent paid is reasonable. In substance there should be total genuineness, honesty and bonafide.
