Verification of Shipping bills and BRCs - DGFT - 01Extract GOVERNMENT OF INDIA / MINISTRY OF COMMERCE OFFICE OF THE ZONAL JOINT DIRECTOR GENERAL OF FOREIGN TRADE No.38 39, WHITES ROAD, ROYAPETTAH, CHENNAI- 600 014 PHONE NO.28523357 / 28523367 / 28523377 **************************************************** TRADE NOTICE No.1/ 2004-2005 Dated: 13-08-2004 Instances have come to our notice that unscrupulous elements have filed applications and also obtained licences under various Export Promotion Schemes by filing forged documents such as shipping bills and BRCs. This has resulted in issue of licences leading to huge revenue loss to the exchequer. Therefore, to avoid such unethical trade practices, it has been decided to issue licences under Export Promotion Schemes only upon verification of shipping bills and BRCs issued by the concerned Customs and Bank Authorities in the case of applications filed by the Proprietory, Partnership and companies excepting those who have status holder certificate. Trade and Industry is hereby advised to take note that whenever manual shipping bills (prepared manually other than EDI mode) and BRCs are submitted they should also enclose a covering letter from their Customs and bankers. The details such as name of the branch, telephone no., fax number, e-mail ID (if any) are to be given in the covering letter so that the issue of bank certificate can be verified by making a reference to the respective bankers who have issued the bank certificate. Therefore, in the interest of genuine exporters and also for the quick disposal of cases, the trade is once again informed that whenever they apply for licences under export promotion schemes with manual shipping bills and BRCs, such application should be submitted with the forwarding letter from the Customs and bankers without which such applications will not be accepted in the counter. (Issued from File No.04 / Policy / T.N. / AM-05 ) (N. CHANDRASEKARAN ) Asst. Director General of Foreign Trade for Zonal Jt. Director General of Foreign Trade
