This is to say that the issue regarding grant of permission for neutral packing in relaxation of Rule 185(1) of the Central Excise Rules, 1944 and permission to print foreign collaborator's name on packages meant for export has been considered by the Board. 2. It is observed that Rule 185 only stipulates marking progressive Sr. No. and owner's name and special mark if any. Proviso under this rule contemplates exemption from marking owner's name only. Therefore, progressive Sr. No. and special marks if any will continue to be shown on the products meant for export. 3. As regards marking of ANY OTHER brand name/marks of particulars on the packages meant for export, it may be mentioned that there is no prohibition to such action under the said Rule but it has to be done at the RISK RESPONSIBILITY of the person doing so.
