Amendments in Notification no. 39/96 Cus dated 23.7.1996 - Exemption to specified goods imported by National Technical Research Organisation, (hereinafter referred to as NTRO) or Indian Offset Partner (hereinafter referred to as IOP) of the contractor to the National Technical Research Organisation, (hereinafter referred to as NTRO) - 20/2014 - Customs -TariffExtract [TO BE PUBLISHED IN THE GAZETTE OF INDIA, EXTRAORDINARY, PART II, SECTION 3, SUB-SECTION (i)] GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF FINANCE (DEPARTMENT OF REVENUE) NOTIFICATION No. 20/2014-Customs New Delhi, the 11th July, 2014 G.S.R. 467 (E). - In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 25 of the Customs Act, 1962 (52 of 1962), the Central Government, being satisfied that it is necessary in the public interest so to do, hereby makes the following further amendments in the notification of the Government of India in the Ministry of Finance (Department of Revenue) No. 39/96-Customs, dated the 23rd July, 1996, published in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary vide number G.S.R. 291(E), dated the 23rd July, 1996, namely:- In the said notification, in the Table,- (i) against serial number 20, in column (2), the expression Portable X-ray machine / system shall be omitted; (ii) after serial number 43, the following serial numbers and entries shall be inserted, namely:- (1) (2) (3) 44. All goods If,- (a) the said goods are imported by the National Technical Research Organisation, (hereinafter referred to as NTRO); (b) before clearance of the said goods, an officer of NTRO, not below the rank of Joint Secretary to the Government of India, certifies that the said goods are required for strategic systems by NTRO. Explanation . Nothing contained in this exemption shall have effect on or after the 1st day of January, 2019. 45. All goods If,- (a) the said goods are imported by the Indian Offset Partner (hereinafter referred to as IOP) of the contractor to the National Technical Research Organisation, (hereinafter referred to as NTRO); (b) before clearance of the said goods, the importer furnishes a duty exemption certificate from an officer of the NTRO, not below the rank of Joint Secretary to the Government of India - (i) indicating the details of the purchase order placed by the NTRO on the contractor; (ii) indicating the details of the purchase order placed by the said contractor on the IOP along with the description of the final products and the description and quantity of goods required to be imported for manufacture of the said final products; and (iii) certifying that the said goods are intended for use in the radars acquired by the NTRO from the said contractor. Explanation. Nothing contained in this exemption shall have effect on or after the 1st day of January, 2019. .
