NOTIFICATION

New Delhi, the 12^th November, 2007

G.S.R 706(E).- In exercise of the powers conferred by the proviso to article 309 of the Constitution, the President hereby makes the following further amendments to the Customs and Central Excise Settlement Commission (Recruitment and Conditions of Service of Chairman, Vice Chairmen and Members) Rules, 2000, namely:-

1.   (1) These rules may be called the Customs and Central Excise Settlement Commission (Recruitment and Conditions of Service of Chairman, Vice-Chairmen and Members) Amendment Rules, 2007.

      (2) They shall come into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette.

2. In the Customs and Central Excise Settlement Commission (Recruitment and Conditions of Service of Chairman, Vice-Chairmen and Members), Rules, 2000, in rule 3, in the Table, for the entry in Column (3) against the post at SI. No.1 relating to Chairman, the following shall he substituted, namely:-

"From amongst  the serving Members of the Commission having minimum remaining service of six months on the date of occurrence of the vacancy for the post of the Chairman."
