Exemption to Specified Goods falling within Chapter 28 or 29 used in the Manufacture of Bulk Drugs

Notification No. 35/91-C.E.

In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 5A of the Central Excises and Salt Act, 1944 (1 of 1944), and in supersession of the notification of the Government of India in the Ministry of Finance (Department of Revenue) No. 147/84 Central Excises, dated the 18th June, 1984, the Central Government, being satisfied that it is necessary in the public interest so to do, hereby exempts goods of the description specified in column (2) of the Table hereto annexed and falling within Chapter 28 or 29 of the Schedule to the Central Excise Tariff Act, 1985 (5 of 1986) and used in the manufacture of bulk drugs (including salts, esters, or derivatives, if any) specified in the First Schedule to the Drugs (Prices Control) Order, 1987, as amended from time to time from the whole of the duty of excise leviable thereon which is specified in the said Schedule :

Provided that where such use is elsewhere than in the factory of production of the goods specified in the said Table, the exemption contained in this notification shall be allowed subject to observance of the procedure set out in Chapter X of the Central Excise Rules, 1944.
