Exemption to Bolts, Nuts and Screws of base metal falling under Heading Nos. 73.18, 74.15 or 76.16

In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-rule (1) of rule 8 of the Central Excise Rules, 1944, the Central Government hereby exempts bolts, nuts and screws of base metal, falling under heading No. 73.1,8, 74.15 or 76.16 of the Schedule to the Central Excise Tariff Act, 1985 (5 of 1986) (hereinafter referred to as the "said goods"), from the whole of the duty of excise leviable thereon which is specified in the said Schedule :

Provided that the said goods are used in the manufacture of the following power driven pumps primarily designed for handling water, namely :-

(a) Centrifugal pumps (horizontal or vertical pumps);

(b) Deep tube-well turbine pumps;

(c) Submersible pumps;

(d) Axial flow and mixed flow vertical pumps :

Provided further that where such use is elsewhere than in the factory of production of the said goods, the procedure set out in Chapter X of the said Rules is followed.
