Export and Import for repairs |

Hello, Let me begin this post with a bit of a background. I purchased an item (a wrist watch to be precise) while I was in the US last year. I carried it as a "personal item" while flying back to India. Flash forward today - it needs repairs. So I've to ship this item to the nearest service center, out in Switzerland. Now, I was considering Indian post as an option to send this wrist watch (marking it as "export" for repairs ??) to Switzerland via this International Mail service (with doorstep delivery). I have a dilemma - if I were to parcel this item as an "export" to Switzerland and reimport it after repairs, would I be charged customs (and any procedure as to how I can go about doing it)? Is there any exemption for non-commercial repairs? I tried reaching out to export consultants, but most of them consult for large commercial exports and that they are unwilling to help personal items shipped overseas for repairs. Let me know your experience if you've ever sent any item overseas for repairs or comments/suggestions as to how I can go about doing it via Indian Post. Thanks for reading. Dear Sir, You don't require to pay Duty at the time of import. Kindly refer notification no.45/2017 -Cus Tariff dated 30th June 2017 for exemptions to re-import of exported goods on or after 01st July 2017.
