Special Economic Zone for IT and ITES in the State of Tamil Nadu - area of 36.4920 hectares denotified thereby making resultant area SEZ. - S.O. 4185 (E) - Special Economic Zone

MINISTRY OF COMMERCE AND INDUSTRY (Department of Commerce) (SEZ DIVISION) NOTIFICATION New Delhi, the 8th September, 2022 S.O. 4185(E). -Whereas, M/s. Electronics Corporation of Tamil Nadu Limited had proposed under section 3 of the Special Economic Zones Act, 2005 (28 of 2005) , (hereinafter referred to as the said Act) to set up a Special Economic Zone for Information Technology and Information Technology Enabled Services at Village Gangaikondan, Taluka Tirunelveli, District Triunelveli, in the State of Tamil Nadu; AND, WHEREAS, the Central Government, in exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 4 of the said Act read with rule 8 of the Special Economic Zones Rules 2006 , notified an area of 40.48 hectares and subsequently, an area of 76.893 hectares at the above Special Economic Zone vide Ministry of Commerce and Industry Notifications Number S.O. 1425(E) dated 08th June, 2009 and S.O. 2838(E) dated 20th December, 2011 , respectively; AND, WHEREAS, M/s. Electronics Corporation of Tamil Nadu Limited has now proposed for de-notification of 36.4920 hectares from the above Special Economic Zone; AND, WHEREAS, the State Government of Tamil Nadu has given its approval to the proposal vide letter No. 3357/MIE.2/2021-1 dated 29th April, 2022; AND, WHEREAS, the Development Commissioner, MEPZ Special Economic Zone has recommended the proposal for de-notification of an area of 36.4920 hectares of the Special Economic Zone. Further, the said land parcel identified for partial de-notification is not put to any commercial Usage and the same is proposed to be handed over to the Government of Tamil Nadu for infrastructure projects; NOW, WHEREAS, the Central Government is satisfied that the requirements under sub-section (8) of section 3 of the said Act and other related requirements are fulfilled; NOW, THEREFORE, in exercise of the powers conferred by second proviso to sub-section (1) of section 4 of the Special Economic Zones Act, 2005 and in pursuance of rule 8 of the Special Economic Zones Rules, 2006 , the Central Government hereby de-notifies an area of 36.4920 hectares, thereby making resultant area of the Special Economic Zone as 80.8810 hectares.
