Special Economic Zone - Central Government de-notifies an area of 20.36 hectares, thereby making resultant area as 77.425 hectares at SIPCOT, Industrial Area, Sriperumbudur Taluk, Kancheepuram District, in the State of Tamil Nadu - S.O. 2139 (E) - Special Economic Zone

MINISTRY OF COMMERCE AND INDUSTRY (Department of Commerce) (SEZ DIVISION) NOTIFICATION New Delhi, the 8th May, 2023 S.O. 2139(E) . Whereas, M/s. State Industries Promotion Corporation of Tamil Nadu Limited, had proposed under section 3 of the Special Economic Zones Act, 2005 (28 of 2005) , (hereinafter referred to as the said Act) to set up a sector specific Special Economic Zone for Electronics/Telecom Hardware and Support Services, including Trading and Logistics activities at SIPCOT, Industrial Area, SriperumbudurTaluk, Kancheepuram District, in the State of Tamil Nadu; AND, WHEREAS, the Central Government, in exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 4 of the said Act read with rule 8 of the Special Economic Zones Rules 2006 , had notified and de-notified the following areas at above Special Economic Zone as details given below in the table: - Sl. State Industries Promotion Corporation of Tamil Nadu Limited has now proposed for de-notification of 20.36 hectares from the above Special Economic Zone; AND, WHEREAS, the State Government of Tamil Nadu has given its approval to the proposal vide letter No. 9942/MIE.2/2027-5 dated 19.03.2020; AND, WHEREAS, the Development Commissioner, MEPZ Special Economic Zone has recommended the proposal for de-notification of an area of 20.36 hectares of the Special Economic Zone. Further, after the proposed de-notification, the land will be utilised under Domestic Tariff Area format by M/s. Container Corporation of India Ltd. (a Navaratna Undertaking of Ministry of Railways); NOW, WHEREAS, the Board of Approval approved the proposal subject to the contiguity of the SEZ being maintained by the Developer in terms of rule 7(2) of the SEZ Rules, 2006 and Department of Commerce s Instruction No. 27 dated 18.10.2009, by getting constructed a Foot Over Bridge for ensuring Contiguity of SEZ Land, by CONCOR, after de-notification; NOW, WHEREAS, the Central Government is satisfied that the requirements under sub-section (8) of section 3 of the said Act and other related requirements are fulfilled; NOW, THEREFORE, in exercise of the powers conferred by second proviso to sub-section (1) of section 4 of the Special Economic Zones Act, 2005 and in pursuance of rule 8 of the Special Economic Zones Rules, 2006 , the Central Government hereby de-notifies an area of 20.36 hectares at State Industries Promotion Corporation of Tamil Nadu, Industrial Area, Sriperumbudur Taluk, Kancheepuram District, in the State of Tamil Nadu; thereby making resultant notified area as 77.425 hectares.
