Central Government de-notifies an area of 16.28 hectares, thereby making resultant area as 97.785 hectares at SIPCOT Industrial Area, Sriperumbudur in the State of Tamil Nadu - S.O. 1720 (E) - Special Economic Zone

MINISTRY OF COMMERCE AND INDUSTRY (Department of Commerce) NOTIFICATION New Delhi, the 8th April, 2022 S.O. 1720(E). -Whereas, M/s. State Industries Promotion Corporation of Tamil Nadu Limited, had proposed under section 3 of the Special Economic Zones Act, 2005 (28 of 2005), (hereinafter referred to as the said Act) to set up a sector specific Special Economic Zone for Electronics/Telecom Hardware and Support Services, including Trading and Logistics activities at SIPCOT, Industrial Area, Sriperumbudur Taluk, Kancheepuram District, in the State of Tamil Nadu; AND, WHEREAS, the Central Government, in exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 4 of the said Act read with rule 8 of the Special Economic Zones Rules 2006 , had notified and de-notified the following areas at above Special Economic Zone as details given below in the table: - Sl. State Industries Promotion Corporation of Tamil Nadu Limited has now proposed for de-notification of 16.28 hectares from the above Special Economic Zone; AND, WHEREAS, the State Government of Tamil Nadu has given its approval to the proposal vide letter No. 6805/MIE.2/2022-4, dated 23.03.2022; AND, WHEREAS, the Development Commissioner, MEPZ Special Economic Zone has recommended the proposal for de-notification of an area of 16.28 hectares of the Special Economic Zone. Further, the Developer i.e., M/s. State Industries Promotion Corporation of Tamil Nadu Limited has already leased the land to the Co-Developer i.e., M/s. FIH India Developer Private Limited. The Co-Developer, after de-notification will utilize the area for setting up a DTA unit; NOW, WHEREAS, the Central Government is satisfied that the requirements under sub-section (8) of section 3 of the said Act and other related requirements are fulfilled; NOW, THEREFORE, in exercise of the powers conferred by second proviso to sub-section (1) of section 4 of the Special Economic Zones Act, 2005 and in pursuance of rule 8 of the Special Economic Zones Rules, 2006 , the Central Government hereby de-notifies an area of 16.28 hectares at State Industries Promotion Corporation of Tamil Nadu, Industrial Area, Sriperumbudur Taluk, Kancheepuram District, in the State of Tamil Nadu; thereby making resultant notified area as 97.785 hectares.
