Effective rates of duty for motor vehicles and parts thereof

In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-rule (1) of rule 8 of the Central Excise Rules, 1944, the Central Government hereby makes the following further amendments in the notification of the Government of India in the Ministry of Finance (Department of Revenue) No. 162/86-Central Excises, dated the 1st March, 1986, namely:-

In the said notification, -

(a) in the Table, after S. No. 17 and the entries relating thereto, the following S. Nos. and entries shall be inserted, namely :-

"18.	87.03	Ambulances	Fifteen per cent ad valorem
19.	87.03 or 87.04	Three-wheeled auto rickshaw	Rs. 1000 Rupees per auto rickshaw	If no credit of the duty paid on the chassis or other inputs used in the manufacture of such auto rickshaw has been taken under rule 56A or 57A of the said Rules.";

(b) in the proviso, for the letters and figure "S. No. 17", the letters, figures and word "S. Nos. 17 and 19" shall be substituted.
